Turning Microphone On

Using the New Room Layout

Alternatively, you could still be able to use the a/v/screensharing on/off buttons at the bottom left (see Using Old Room Layout).

Using the Old Room Layout

The devices on/off buttons are at the bottom left of the left panel (participants panel). Even if you use the new layout, this will be there.

  1. Click the Microphone button on the toolbar
  2. If you are prompted by the web browser to allow permissions/select permissions, do the following.
Chrome: Microphone/Webcam Permissions Dialog
Firefox and Other Web Browsers

Microphone when Turned On

When it is turned on, it turns Teal Blue and shows a bar where it shows the audio level animation when you speak (see below).

To turn the device off, click the same button.

Troubleshooting - Why Can Others Not Hear Me?

  1. If others cannot hear you, the first thing to check is if your microphone is audible. You must check the PC audio setup (do a recording and see), and recheck web browser permissions
  2. If you are certain, then check the webcam tray and see if your name appears there (see the image below).
    WHAT IS THE WEBCAM TRAY?
  3. If you are not there, then ask your host (moderator) to check the AV CONTROLS panel and see if you are ON AIR. If you are not, he/she can bring you ON AIR immediately.

You are available on the webcam tray

💡Pro Tip
Case 3 (point 3 in the above list) only happens when you are NOT ASSIGNED properly to the storyboard block. If you got assigned properly, as soon as the storyboard block is played by the host, you are brought ON AIR automatically.
